Audience: Reception Theory
1) The preferred reading of a media text is that the producer intends for the reader to read it
2)An oppositional reading is when an audience completely rejects the preferred meaning that a media producer intends for their text and instead creates their own, often resistant, interpretation. This happens because the audience's social, cultural, and personal beliefs and experiences are at odds with the message encoded by the producers
3)The Harry Brown trailer positions the audience to view the teenage characters as one-dimensional, dangerous antagonists, who represent the social decay of their environment. The filmmakers employ specific techniques to elicit feelings of fear, anger, and disgust towards the youths, thereby justifying Harry Brown's eventual vigilante actions
4) Young people might reject the intended "preferred" reading and form an oppositional one due to their own social and cultural experiences, which can conflict with the film's stereotypes
This is an advertisement from McDonald's, They are making a new dish called Big Mac. This advertisement is for customers who want a larger amount of food. As it says in the advertisement, Its a meal disguised in a burger, This is telling the audience that they would feel full because of it and it would be cheaper then a normal burger meal. This encourages the customer to buy the big mac as its more expensive then a normal burger but fills u up like a normal burger meal. This could encourage families with a larger amount to buy the burger by itself to fill their family for a cheaper price. It also tells the ingredients making the customer feel valued and would make customers more loyal.
